Brief
Our client is a long-standing supporter of facilitating ex Armed Forces transitioning to civilian work and stages an internal event across two UK sites for staff each year to promote Armed Forces Awareness Day.
Solution
The event carried a classic 1940’s military theme, with an all-female vintage vocal trio, a collection of military vehicles, a vintage ice-cream van, Churchill photobooth and a selection of props to dress the space.
We created a series of experiences to engage staff. ‘Land Girls Bake-Off’ challenged teams to create recipes from the era which included traditional scones with homemade jam, as well as creating some delicious cupcakes topped with beautiful iced poppies.
In the southern office guests could take part in the ‘Defenders’ workshop – learning military self-defense techniques, from how to defend and evade capture to blocking knife attacks.
The northern office had a ‘From the Archives’ experience – an antiques dating based activity, hosted by Antique Roadshow’s Adam Schoon.
Participants were challenged to guess the purpose, age and value of various items from the 1940s, aided with hints and clues from Adam.
"I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you as the Crewe Armed Forces Day event was a great success!
The whole day went really well and all the suppliers were fab – Adam’s activity was particularly successful and he and Anna were really lovely people and the objects were so interesting!"
