Brief
Our client hold an annual celebratory event for their 60 staff but this year gathering together for a high-end dinner was off the menu due to COVID-19. A virtual event was their only option to try and deliver a fun, upbeat experience to mark the end of the year, so we helped them discover what could be created online.
Solution
As we were having to do things differently this year, we also decided to make the event more personal and offer something for everyone. Guests could choose in advance what experience they wanted to join. They could select from Wine Tasting, a Gin Experience or a Chocolate Making Workshop. In advance of the event, everyone was sent an Event Box to their homes containing items they required for their chosen activity. Those joining the Wine Tasting received six 187ml bottles of wine and enjoyed learning how to recognize a grape through smell and taste and the principles of pairing with food.
Guests participating in the Gin Experience received a gift box containing gin miniatures, tonic waters, mist liquid garnish and branded glassware. Their host, based at a distillery, offered insight into the craft process and how the botanicals add to flavour before guiding everyone through how to make the perfect G&T.
The Chocolate Workshop proved very popular, particularly with anyone who wanted younger members of their family to join in. Guests learned how the cocoa bean becomes a chocolate bar and watched a professional Belgian chocolate making demonstration. They all got hands on and experienced how to make ganache, the art of tempering, dipping and decorating techniques. Though the resulting products didn't last too long after the event!
"Last night was great fun surprisingly! I am actually shocked how well the team took it on board as some were a bit cynical about doing a virtual party. There were definitely some sore heads today but we have had so many lovely thank you emails so it was a great success. I loved chocolate and so glad I did this. The chef was great and loved his kitchen setting. Please do pass on our thanks to the chef for making it a fun afternoon. I have equally heard good things about gin and wine.
