It’s been a turbulent year for events, with an ongoing pandemic and the aftermath of Brexit...
It’s been a little more challenging than previous years for the event industry with many of us Event Planners urging each other not to mention the ‘C’ word before any live events are about to take place.
We have all faced these challenges head on, however the world of events has gone through a shake-up with a shift to virtual events whilst in Lockdown, and then a massive influx of outdoor live events when we we’re all released back into society, as well as more of a focused approach around wellbeing, mental health awareness and mindfulness.
The one thing that hasn’t changed is the need to connect, whether it be with colleagues, suppliers or with clients. Now it’s even more important than ever, when the most we see of people is a head and torso on a video call or even worse stuck in a meeting with someone who’s camera isn’t working and stuck on mute – these are the trials we all face now.
We’ve been lucky over the past 18 month to help thousands of people connect / re-connect through a wide array of virtual, hybrid and face to face events from virtual awards events, hybrid meetings, corporate festivals, team building, conferences and roadshows. We’ve even produced a virtual Santa’s Grotto for Romanian staff and their families and a Christmas Market with real reindeers for staff from a pharmaceutical company.
It seems like there will be challenging times ahead over the next few months, but the importance of keeping people connected, feeling part of a team, company and even community whether virtual or in person should be a priority for everyone, and I’m confident it won’t be too long before we can out the ‘C’ word to bed.
