Now this trip was rather special – with Rockitfish due to turn 10, we thought it was important we mark this exciting milestone with an incentive trip of our own.
Regularly planning incentive trips around the world for our clients, we wanted to celebrate this big birthday as a team in the best possible way. The hardest part of course was deciding where to go, especially considering the team is rather well-travelled. The goal was to find somewhere we could visit for two nights, with a reasonable flight time and ideally where the majority of the team hadn’t been before. After a bit of debating, we settled on the gorgeous Valencia in Spain. Valencia is just a 2 hour and 25 minute flight from the UK and is known for its impressive mix of old and new architecture.
We were fortunate enough to stay at one of the most popular hotels in Valencia, Only You. This hotel offers spacious bedrooms with everything you need from giraffe-patterned dressing gown to Nespresso machine and even a pair of straighteners in case you didn’t have space in your suitcase to pack your own. If you’re a coffee addict though it’s not just the Nespresso machine you’ll enjoy, but the Barista station at breakfast – possibly the best coffee in Valencia. That’s not all though, you’ll also find the master of omelettes, whipping up every variety of omelette you can name. There’s normally an 8-minute wait, but it’s worth it we promise!
Once we were set up for the day that was when the fun really began – with everything from guided bike tour around the City (stopping off at the local food market along the way), boat trip in the countryside, paella live cooking experience and a walking tapas foodie tour with the chance to try the traditional Valencian cocktail “Agua de Valencia”. The following day we had the chance to pick our preferred activity, with some more adrenaline-fuelled options on offer. This included a variety of watersports from paddleboarding, kayaking and jet skiing. Those not wanting to partake could opt for beach yoga or just relax on a sunbed at the Beach Club.
In the evenings we partied at Tatel Valencia, a restaurant that turns into a club (swinging napkins in the air encouraged!) and Atenea Sky Rooftop, a cocktail bar with DJ’s and amazing views. A few also made it to Only You’s nightclub when they didn’t want the night to stop. One particular selling point for Valencia and the Only You hotel is just how close these bars and restaurants are to each other, which is great when wanting to try a variety in one night. Even those not as savvy with directions could easily find their way back to their beds at the end of the evening!
It’s safe to say this trip brought us closer as a team and reminded us why we love organising trips like these for our clients. The Rockitfish team know how to work hard and play hard - so whilst we visited Valencia to learn more about this amazing city and grow our venue knowledge, we also thoroughly enjoyed the chance to spend time together.
What a way to celebrate Rockitfish turning 10! Let’s see what the next decade has in store for us.
