Last December we were hosted by Hilton and whisked away on a winter escape to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff at Hilton Prague with refreshments, before heading to our rooms to relax after our travels.
We all appreciated this relaxed start to the itinerary, allowing us to wake up refreshed for the first full day of activities.
The following morning was breakfast at leisure and a chance to do a site inspection of the hotel. Hilton Prague has one of the largest conference facilities in Europe, which includes Congress Hall (up to 1500 people), Grand Ballroom (up to 650 people) and a total of 38 function rooms for breakout sessions and board meetings. It also has its own casino and rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city.
Following our site inspection it wasn’t long before we were heading out to explore the city, picked up in Vintage Cars that were waiting for us outside the front of the hotel. All of the drivers ensured we were well taken care of and provided us with blankets so we were nice and toasty! We needn’t have worried though, as the cars also had underfloor heating so we were happy to travel around in the cars all day.
Our first stop on our tour was a visit to Prague Castle which forms part of Prague’s beautiful skyline. Due to its location on a hill, it is the perfect place to take photographs overlooking the city. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world – so you definitely need to plan a visit! We then headed down the hill to Lesser Town which included sightseeing of Lesser Town Square, Lennon Wall and Charles Bridge.
Along the way we stopped at a stall serving a variety of flavours of mulled wine which got us in the festive mood. For lunch we had a reservation at Restaurant Mlynec, which offered views of Charles Bridge. The level of catering here was extremely high, making this a great choice for corporate events whether you are bringing a smaller group to the restaurant or looking for a full takeover. The contemporary restaurant serves both modern Czech and international cuisine, so there is plenty of choice to suit all tastes.
After our meal we were able to experience a traditional tram ride, accompanied by an accordion player to keep us entertained. These elements of surprise kept the whole trip exciting from start to finish as we didn’t know what to expect next. The tram dropped us at the TV tower, which was more like an art installation to look at with unique sculptures attached to the structure. Underneath the tower was a small ice rink, which further added to the festive feeling of our trip.
Following a quick ice skate, we headed up in the lifts of the TV tower and enjoyed drinks and canapes at the top. We then headed back to the hotel to freshen up ahead of our evening of entertainment. This involved dinner and a chance to make our own pamper goodies which we could take home as a memento (or a Christmas present if we weren’t keeping for ourselves!).
The next day we visited Municipal House which offers lots of stunning event spaces for hire, ideal for receptions or a gala dinner. The café at Municipal House is open to the public and is a particularly stunning space, serving coffee and a delicious array of cakes and desserts. The rest of the day we made the most of our time with a trip to the popular Prague Christmas Markets which has an amazing atmosphere and a variety of stalls from gifts to food. The perfect way to round off our weekend in Prague, a city full of surprise & delight!
