Brief
The film dominated the DVD charts; the soundtrack dominated the music charts. So when it came to celebrating Christmas in style, this theme was always going to be top of the charts for our client. The Greatest Showman offered beautiful styling opportunities and an array of quirky entertainment options that we knew would appeal to this audience from a leading Cambridge software company.
Solution
Staged at the iconic Corn Exchange Cambridge – a venue heavily associated with live performance that offered a large blank canvas space – we created a theme that blended elements of the film with circus and cabaret.
On arrival, the 300 guests walked through giant “sold out” circus style posters and were greeted by usherettes dressed in ring master costumes, handing out event ‘programmes’ revealing the itinerary for the evening’s dinner and awards. Circus stilt walkers and a beautiful clockwork ballerina – who needed ‘winding up’ to perform – entertained guests over pre-dinner drinks.
The audience were then lead through a themed circus entrance into the main space where a giant hot air balloon hung from the ceiling, presenting a spectacular centrepiece. The ceiling was also draped and tables dressed in red cloths and Tiffany style LED lamps.
Once guests were seated for the start of the awards, a troupe of catering staff, led by our ring masters with usherette trays, delivered guests boxes of popcorn – salted, cheese and truffle flavours! Once the awards were completed, the clockwork ballerina performed a fully choregraphed ballet routine on stage to one of the signature tracks from the Greatest Showman. Then guests partied late into the evening with the fantastic 5 pieceband, the ‘Tzars’, who continued the theme through song and staging.
"I can’t thank you enough – me and the rest of the team – for everything you did for us on Friday. Apparently, word on the street is that it was the best Christmas Party EVER!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas to you and yours."
